So, What is Mortgage Staffer?

If you've seen our classifed ads, you probably have a few questions about us. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions:

Q. I saw your classified for mortgage professionals - are you a lending institution?

A. No, but we represent lending institutions as a resume referral source. In other words, we run the ads, accept the resumes and make them available to our subscribers. It is up to the individual companies to arrange the interviews which are the precursor to the hiring process.

Q. Why don't the companies run their own ads?

A. There are many reasons for this. For starters, the majority of our subscribers are small businesses, where the expense of running newspaper ads for weeks at a time can be too costly. Furthermore, many companies find the process of advertising directly to be disruptive to their work flow. Usually, for the first few days after running their ads, their fax lines and e-mail accounts are flooded with applicants. (Heavy traffic is one reason why many companies do not list their phone number in their ads.) Other employers prefer not to run ads for discretionary reasons. They prefer the privacy of reviewing their resumes at non-peak times of day when they can devote time to it. Others would rather keep their personnel needs a private affair (we've heard stories of some employees throwing away the faxes and deleting the e-mails of potential future hires!). One final reason that lending companies prefer a service like ours is because we sort and organize the resumes for them. You'd be surpised at how many resumes do not match the required skill or experience level set by the employer.

Q. It's been four days and I haven't been contacted for an interview. Why not?

A. Mortgage Staffer is not a job placement agency but a resume referral service. Just like other traditional methods of resume submission, it is up to the employer to make their choices of people to interview from the collective pool of applicants. One benefit to our service over traditional resume submission is our resume builder. You are able to include far more information about yourself than the traditional two-page resume allows.

Q. Are you like Monster.com?

A. Well, we're actually very different from Monster. We cater to a very specific market in a particular geographic area. Because Monster's fees are prohibitally high for some small to medium sized companies, you may find our employer base to be very different from theirs. In any case, you'll probably have more job options in the local mortgage industry if you use both our service and Monster's.

Q. How do I submit my resume as an e-mail attachment?

A. We prefer for our applicants to use our very easy to use Resume Builder to curtail the proliferation of computer viruses that are commonly attached to Microsoft Word documents. Because of the high volume of resumes we receive and the potential security risk to the employers who subscribe to this service, we do not provide an e-mail attachment option at this time.

Q. I'm concerned about e-mail privacy.

A. You very well should be. The unauthorized distribution of e-mail addresses is the source of some of the most common problems plaguing the internet community today. We have a simple and straight-forward privacy policy: we do not sell or otherwise release your e-mail address to any third-party outside of our employer subscriber base. We also ask our employer base to adhere to our privacy standards.

Q. Are there any fees to use the service?

A. None at all. Submitting your resume through Mortgage Staffer.com is absolutely free.
